Kate Scott is excited and grateful for the opportunity to sit in Tim Roye’s seat and handle play-by-play duties on March 29, thanks to the Warriors’ decision to celebrate Women’s Empowerment Month with an all-woman broadcast crew for that night’s game. But the way she learned she’d be getting the opportunity, with Roye breaking the news on 95.7 The Game’s “The Morning Roast” — which Scott hosts with Bonta Hill and Joe Shasky — put her on the spot.
“They pulled a fast one on me,” Scott said through laughter on a Monday phone call. “They surprised me on air last week, which I’m still actually pretty pissed at them for doing. But thankfully, I’m available on Monday, March 29. Because that’s what I told them after we went off the air that day, that it’s a good thing (I’m available). Because this could’ve been a surprise right back at you guys if I was busy that night.”
